Baby Bootie Candy Cups

As you've seen in our previous post, we have a baby shower coming up! In preparation for our baby shower, we've been making baby bootie candy cups to hand out to the moms who attend. These cups are so cute and are very easy to make!

Materials:

  1. Scissors
  2. Styrofoam cups
  3. Hot glue gun
  4. Thin ribbon
  5. Decorative buttons
  6. Glitter
  7. Paperclip
  8. Tissue paper
  9. Candy
Instructions:
  1. Take a styrofoam cup and cut around the edge, about 1 1/2 inches down (shown below).
  2. Cut two slits in the cup about an inch apart all the way to the bottom edge. This will become the tongue of the shoe.
  3. Next to one of the slits, cut at an upward angle towards the top edge of the cup. Do the same on the other side, and even out the top edge so it is the same height all the way around the cup. You may need to trim the tongue down a little as well. (This step takes some practice!)
  4. Push the tongue back and bring the sides in to create flaps over the tongue. Use the hot glue gun to secure the flaps.
  5. Make a small bow with your ribbon and glue it on the shoe where the flaps meet in the middle. Glue a small button on top of the ribbon. (You can decorate the shoes however you want - these are just suggestions!)
  6. Using the tip of a paperclip, make small indentations in the cup to look like the stitching in the shoe. Be careful not to punch all the way through! (This step is very time consuming, and can be left off if you are short on time.)
  7. Add glitter to the bottom edge of the shoe.
  8. Fill each cup with colored tissue paper and candy (or anything else you want!).
  9. Voila!
